Ronnie Faisst is faith, ambition and innovation. His journey to the top of the freestyle motocross began at the age of eight in Mays Landing, New Jersey when he got his first dirt bike and began riding with a boyhood friend. Graduating quickly to faster tracks and better bikes, Faisst went pro in 1995 at the 125 Outdoor Nationals and East Coast Supercross Series. At the young age of 18, Faisst had developed a love for motocross that still motivates him to this day.

He followed his passion to California in 1997, where he began developing relationships with sponsors and filmmakers while simultaneously creating a new style of riding now known as freestyle motocross with his friend and mentor, Brian Deegan. “We would go out in the hills and try to find the sick hits and bust tricks over them,” Faisst explains. “Little did we know, we were starting a whole new sport.”

Hooked in with sponsorships, Faisst headed to Las Vegas for the first ever freestyle motocross contest in 1998.  He finished 11th in that event and went on to travel with the Vans Warped Tour where he jumped ramp to ramp for the first time and picked up two more sponsors. With career momentum building and creativity steadily flowing and pumping out new innovations in freestyle riding, Faisst was on top of the world when the sport went mainstream in 1999. That year, he joined as an original member of the now-famous alliance started by Deegan, the Metal Mulisha. The X Games and Gravity Games also began that year, and Faisst went on to win numerous honors at both, including a silver medal in the 1999 team competition, a moto challenge bronze in 2002 and a bronze in freestyle in 2004 from the Gravity Games. He finished 6th in freestyle and 5th in best trick at the 2005 Los Angeles X Games and a bronze medal at the Winter X Games the next year. Faisst has been an integral part of many important action sports moments including all three years of Tony Hawk’s Boom Boom Huck Jam, the Vans Warped Tour and MTV’s Sports and Music Festival, Crusty Demons of Dirt World Tour, and the Dew Action Sports Tour.

As Faisst’s fame and status in the motocross community continued to mount, he made a point to keep his faith as a Christian strong. “I was in the darkness, and when I read the Word, I came into the light. For one, Jesus is my savior. And two, I am thankful for everything he blessed me with. It gets me through. I really like getting on my bike and knowing that God is behind me and protecting me.” This faith has allowed Faisst to keep a solid footing while pursuing his career in freestyle motocross and expanding new areas. His new apparel company, Shui Clothing, is a venture that allows him to incorporate his love for fashion and history in motocross with his creative and spiritual side.
